Once, I felt like websites should be beautifully framed things that were graphically rich throughout. Check out my New Urban Guild site or my Katrina Cottages site, both of which use the same design framework.
Now, however, we are entering an era that requires simplicity and frugality. Our eyes are over-taxed with too many pixels, and our finances are over-burdened with the excesses of the recent past, whether by our own spending or that of our communities, states, and nation.
I'm rebuilding almost our entire web presence based on a new paradigm of simplicity: one large, beautiful image at the top in cinema aspect ratio, and simple text below. OK, it's not exactly cinema ratio (16:9)... instead, I'm using an aspect ratio of 7:4, which is less than 2% different, for reasons that have to do with layout simplicity. It isn't done yet, but check out the Mouzon Design site and let me know what you think... thanks!
